The legal action, designated as Case No. CVRI260588, centers on allegations that the biosolids management firm forced employees to utilize personal cellular phones for business purposes without compensation. Beyond unreimbursed expenses, the lawsuit claims the company failed to provide required meal and rest periods, neglected to pay overtime and minimum wages, and issued inaccurate itemized wage statements.
Synagro Technologies Faces Class Action Over Unpaid Business Expenses
A class action lawsuit filed in Riverside County Superior Court accuses Synagro Technologies, Inc. of systemic labor code violations, including the failure to reimburse staff for mandatory work-related expenses. The complaint, brought by Blumenthal Nordrehaug Bhowmik De Blouw LLP, alleges the company neglected its indemnification duties under California law.
Under California Labor Code Section 2802, employers are strictly mandated to indemnify workers for costs incurred within the scope of their employment. The plaintiffs contend that Synagro Technologies consistently disregarded these requirements, as well as multiple provisions regarding sick leave and timely wage payments. The firm, which maintains offices across California and in Chicago, is currently seeking civil penalties for the alleged conduct.
