Viome to Build AI Molecular Foundation Model in Bhutan
Viome Life Sciences has signed a memorandum of understanding with Bhutan’s Druk Holding & Investments and the Gelephu Mindfulness City to develop a Molecular Foundation Model. The project aims to leverage Bhutan’s clean hydropower and regulatory independence to create an AI-driven platform for global diagnostics and drug development.
Naveen Jain, CEO of Viome Life Sciences, noted that the collaboration offers a unique opportunity to build healthcare infrastructure outside the constraints of existing, traditional health systems. The project supports DHI’s “DH1 10X” strategy, which seeks to diversify Bhutan’s economy beyond hydropower and into high-value technology sectors. The parties plan to finalize a pre-feasibility study and a phased technical roadmap within the next six to ten weeks, including the establishment of a local Center of Excellence to train Bhutanese scientists in data science and precision medicine.
