Glen McGorty Named Next Chair of Crowell & Moring

For the first time in its 47-year history, Crowell & Moring will be led by a chair based outside of Washington, D.C. The firm’s partnership has elected Glen McGorty, a veteran trial lawyer and current managing partner of the New York office, to succeed Phil Inglima as chair of the Management Board.

McGorty’s three-year term begins March 1, 2027. He assumes the role after Phil Inglima, who steered the firm for nine years, overseeing a period of significant international expansion and strategic investment. A Chambers-ranked attorney who joined the firm in 2012, McGorty previously spent 15 years as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York and the Department of Justice.

During his tenure as managing partner of the New York office, McGorty increased the local attorney headcount by nearly 50% and managed the firm's transition to new headquarters at Two Manhattan West. His leadership style, noted for its focus on strategic growth and client relationship building, has earned him the confidence of the outgoing chair. Inglima noted that McGorty’s ability to navigate complex enforcement actions and his track record of operational expansion make him well-positioned to address the pressures of a rapidly changing legal market.
