Habitat for Humanity Honors Volunteers Marking 50 Years of Service
Habitat for Humanity International is celebrating its golden anniversary by recognizing 44 volunteers from 21 countries. These individuals, selected from over 300 nominations, are credited with advancing the organization’s mission to provide safe, affordable housing through community mobilization, professional advocacy, and decades of hands-on construction work.

These awards coincide with the United Nations' International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development, emphasizing the role of grassroots efforts in global housing solutions. CEO Jonathan Reckford noted that the foundation of the organization was built by volunteers who continue to shape its future trajectory. Beyond the 12 global honorees, 32 regional volunteers were recognized for their specific impacts, including contributions to ReStore operations and youth advocacy programs. These efforts collectively support Habitat’s broader goal of ensuring that every person has a decent place to live.
