Doral Renewables Completes 1.3 GW Mammoth Solar Complex in Indiana

Under the vast skies of Pulaski County, Doral Renewables has finalized the construction of its Mammoth Solar complex, a massive 1.3 GW facility. By bringing the final 900 MW of capacity online, the developer cements the site’s status as one of the largest operational solar installations in the United States.

The final phases—Mammoth South, Mammoth Central I, and Mammoth Central II—reached completion after an 18-month construction sprint. At the height of activity, the site hosted 1,800 workers daily, managing an installation pace that reached 20,000 panels per day. This expansion pushes the total capacity of the project to 1.3 GW, providing a significant boost to Indiana’s energy infrastructure.

Doral Renewables now pivots toward integrating agrivoltaics across the site. The company is coordinating with Purdue University and local agricultural partners to implement sheep and cattle grazing alongside specialty crop cultivation within the solar arrays. CEO Nick Cohen emphasized that the project aims to serve as a national model for dual-use land management, balancing industrial energy generation with the preservation of local farming traditions.

State officials and project partners underscored the economic footprint of the development, which utilized regional steel and local union labor. Indiana Secretary of Energy Suzanne Jaworowski noted that the project addresses the state's urgent demand for reliable electricity while maintaining the integrity of the surrounding agricultural landscape. With the Mammoth complex fully operational, Doral Renewables continues to manage a broader U.S. portfolio that now exceeds 22 GW in various stages of development.
