The summit breaks down the traditional silos between policy, research, and private development, fostering a collaborative environment for systemic change. By emphasizing the replication of existing successful models, the event aims to provide a roadmap for communities struggling with inventory and cost barriers. Abby Ivory, president of Ivory Innovations, emphasized that the priority lies in scaling solutions that already demonstrate results rather than theorizing new ones.
Ivory Prize Summit Gathers Experts to Combat Housing Affordability
As the housing crisis persists across American communities, Ivory Innovations is convening policymakers, developers, and researchers at Arizona State University on October 14. The 2026 Ivory Prize Summit seeks to move beyond abstract discussion by connecting proven, scalable housing solutions with the local leaders positioned to implement them.

Programming includes a showcase of the 2026 Ivory Prize winners, ranging from the City of Boston’s acquisition strategies to the City of Chattanooga’s PILOT program and workforce development initiatives like TradesFutures. Beyond these established models, the summit will feature pitches from student teams who won the Hack-A-House competition. These presentations will be livestreamed, offering a glimpse into how the next generation of architects and urban planners envisions affordable housing. The event is hosted at the Memorial Union in Tempe, in partnership with the Morrison Institute for Public Policy and the Housing Innovation Alliance.
