Immorta Bio Readies AI-Designed Senolytic Peptide for Human Trials

Miami-based Immorta Bio has completed preclinical testing for SenoMune™-0257, a synthetic nine-amino-acid peptide engineered via artificial intelligence to purge the body of senescent cells. The company plans to initiate clinical evaluation of this immunotherapy by 2026, aiming to address the biological drivers of age-related chronic diseases.

Immorta Bio Readies AI-Designed Senolytic Peptide for Human Trials

Accumulation of senescent cells, often termed zombie cells, is linked to systemic inflammation and tissue degradation across a spectrum of conditions including cardiovascular disease, neurodegeneration, and cancer. While existing small-molecule senolytics have shown promise in laboratory models, they frequently struggle with off-target toxicity and a lack of durable immune memory. Immorta Bio’s approach shifts the paradigm by leveraging a synthetic peptide to retrain the immune system to recognize and eliminate these cells naturally.

Advancing Senolytic Immunotherapy

Developed through computational screening, the SenoMune™-0257 candidate stimulates cytotoxic T cells to target senescent tissue while leaving healthy cells intact. According to CEO Boris Reznik, the transition from complex cellular therapies to a scalable, off-the-shelf peptide represents a major leap in manufacturing efficiency and accessibility. Thomas Ichim, the company’s Chief Scientific Officer, noted that the firm has established a discovery engine capable of generating further peptide-based immunotherapies by identifying new targets associated with cellular aging. With preclinical milestones met, the company is now focused on human evaluation, positioning its platform as a potential cornerstone for treating age-related pathologies as a unified medical category.
