The new cab configuration, compliant with STANAG 4569 Level 1–3 standards, allows defense customers to maintain commonality across their fleets. By building the armored units within the existing Scania modular system, the company ensures that these vehicles share the same spare parts, maintenance protocols, and driver interfaces as their non-armored counterparts. Stefano Fedel, Head of Scania Commercial, noted that the design prioritizes operational resilience and transport capability, which are increasingly critical for modern European defense requirements.
Scania Unveils Modular Protected Cab at Eurosatory 2026
At the Eurosatory 2026 defense exhibition in Paris, Scania introduced a new modular protected cab designed to integrate ballistic and blast survival features directly into its standard vehicle production line. The solution aims to provide armed forces with armored transport without requiring the development of separate, specialized vehicle platforms.

Designed for 4x4, 6x6, and 8x8 chassis, the cab supports strategic mobility, including adherence to UIC GA train tunnel profiles. According to Sara Forsberg, CTO and Head of Scania R&D, the cab is not a standalone platform but a performance upgrade within the company’s established industrial framework. This integration enables military units to adapt their vehicles for varying mission profiles—from routine logistics to high-threat environments—while keeping lifecycle costs and training requirements manageable. The trucks are manufactured in Sweden and assembled alongside standard variants, ensuring consistent quality and simplified logistics support for international defense partners.
