JetZero Begins Construction on Massive North Carolina Aircraft Campus

Backed by the largest state incentive package ever awarded to a startup, JetZero has broken ground on an eight-million-square-foot production facility in Greensboro. The project promises to reshape the regional economy by creating 14,500 jobs over the next decade while advancing the development of the company’s fuel-efficient Z4 aircraft.

The massive campus, spanning 600 acres, serves as the production anchor for the Z4, an all-wing aircraft capable of carrying 250 passengers across 5,000 nautical miles. The company claims the design will be 50 percent more fuel-efficient than current models, fitting seamlessly into existing airport infrastructure. Beyond commercial use, JetZero is actively developing military variants, including transport and aerial refueling aircraft designed to double current payload and range capabilities.

Governor Josh Stein highlighted the $4.7 billion investment as a defining moment for the triad region, positioning North Carolina as a modern aerospace powerhouse. To achieve this scale, JetZero is collaborating with Siemens and Deloitte to implement a digital-first, AI-native manufacturing environment. By utilizing digital twin technology, engineers are simulating every aspect of the plant’s workflow—from human movement to machinery placement—before completion. This adaptability, rarely seen in traditional aerospace manufacturing, aims to set a new benchmark for production speed and quality as the facility ramps up operations over the coming years.
