Independent Candidate Frank J. Russo Gains Traction in Florida Race

Florida gubernatorial candidate Frank J. Russo has captured 7.1% support in a new statewide survey, signaling early momentum just days after securing his spot on the ballot. The data highlights a growing restlessness among voters, with over 40% expressing a desire for alternatives to the traditional two-party political establishment.

The Kaplan Strategies survey, conducted June 8-9 among 668 likely voters, reveals a volatile electorate where 28.2% remain undecided. While Russo’s current polling figure is modest, it suggests a significant opening for an independent voice in a state where 61% of voters report being open to candidates outside the Republican and Democratic parties.

Russo attributes this early interest to a campaign focused on kitchen-table issues rather than partisan orthodoxy. According to respondents, the primary drivers for this election cycle are property insurance costs, housing affordability, and government accountability. Russo, a real estate developer and insurance executive, claims that his ability to draw 7% of the vote while maintaining low name recognition proves his platform is resonating with those disillusioned by the status quo. With his official qualification for the ballot now complete, the campaign is shifting into a statewide expansion phase to capture the nearly three in ten voters who have yet to commit to a candidate.
