Metallium Scales Flash Joule Heating Technology in Texas

Operating three Flash Joule heating units simultaneously, Metallium Limited has hit a critical scaling milestone at its Texas facility. The successful trial confirms the viability of the company’s proprietary extraction architecture, signaling a shift toward processing commercial-scale volumes of mineral concentrates and high-grade electronic waste.

The campaign reached 83% availability and nearly 100% utilization during active testing. According to CEO Michael Walshe, these results surpassed initial internal projections and provided essential engineering data for future deployment. While the current test used inert media, the processing rates aligned with the throughput requirements for multi-ton daily feedstocks.

This technology, operated by the subsidiary Flash Metals USA, aims to lower the carbon footprint of recovering precious and critical materials. By applying high-efficiency heat to sources like refinery scrap and monazite, Metallium plans to extract gallium, germanium, antimony, and rare earth elements at a scale suitable for industrial markets.
