David Hammarwall to Lead Ericsson’s Business Area Networks

David Hammarwall will step into the role of Head of Business Area Networks at Ericsson on October 1, 2026, joining the company's executive team. He succeeds Per Narvinger, who is moving up to become the global president and CEO of the telecommunications giant.

David Hammarwall to Lead Ericsson’s Business Area Networks

Hammarwall currently oversees the company’s T-Mobile customer unit in the Americas, a position he has held since 2023. A long-time veteran of the firm, he joined Ericsson in 2007 and holds a PhD in telecommunications from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology. His background includes leadership stints within the 5G RAN and radio product lines, providing him with a deep technical foundation for his new Stockholm-based responsibilities.

CEO Börje Ekholm highlighted Hammarwall’s blend of commercial acumen and technical expertise as essential for the company’s ongoing transition toward 6G and AI-integrated network services. For his part, Hammarwall emphasized the importance of bringing advanced AI capabilities to service providers, noting that his return to the Networks division comes at a pivotal moment for setting new standards in network intelligence.
