The K4’s success extends beyond its segment win; the Kia manufacturing facility in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, where the model is produced, earned the Gold Plant Quality Award. This recognition identifies the site as the top-performing plant for initial quality throughout North and South America. These accolades arrive during a period of sustained commercial momentum for the brand, as both models recently achieved several consecutive months of record-breaking sales.
Kia Carnival and K4 Lead J.D. Power Initial Quality Study
The 2026 Kia Carnival and K4 have secured top spots in the J.D. Power 2026 U.S. Initial Quality Study, with the K4 emerging as the second-highest ranked vehicle across the entire automotive industry. The results reflect the fewest reported defects during the first 90 days of ownership among new-vehicle buyers.

Sean Yoon, president and CEO of Kia North America and Kia America, noted that the results demonstrate the company’s focus on meeting customer expectations for reliability. Now in its 40th year, the J.D. Power study aggregated responses from 78,514 purchasers and lessees of 2026 model-year vehicles. The methodology combines traditional consumer feedback with real-world repair data reported to franchised dealers, allowing manufacturers to pinpoint and resolve potential quality issues early in the ownership cycle.
