Akima Names Michael Teegardin Vice President of Marketing

Michael Teegardin, a veteran of the defense and aerospace communications sector, has been named Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Akima. He will oversee brand strategy for the Herndon-based government contractor as it manages a workforce of 11,000 employees supporting federal missions.

Teegardin arrives with two decades of experience advising senior leadership and boards. Before this appointment, he served as Chief Communications Officer and Executive Vice President at ASRC Federal, where he spearheaded the firm’s rebranding and established its marketing functions. His career path also includes a tenure as Vice President of Communications at BAE Systems and positions with Weber Shandwick and the State of Minnesota.

Bill Monet, President and CEO of Akima, noted that the company is looking to Teegardin to elevate their brand profile following a period of significant growth. A U.S. Army veteran who served as an intelligence analyst during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Teegardin holds a Master of Science in Communication from Purdue University and completed executive training at the Wharton School. Akima, a subsidiary of the Alaska Native Corporation NANA, currently holds the 26th position on the Washington Technology Top 100 list of government contractors.
