The sale marks a strategic pivot for Harmonic, which now intends to concentrate its resources entirely on its broadband segment. According to CEO Nimrod Ben-Natan, the company is doubling down on its virtualized software-defined networks, leveraging its existing footprint with major global operators. The $145 million purchase price remains subject to standard working capital adjustments, but the liquidity gained is expected to bolster the company’s balance sheet for future innovation and customer acquisition.
Harmonic Sells Video Business to MediaKind for $145 Million
San Jose-based Harmonic Inc. has offloaded its video division to MediaKind in a $145 million cash deal, a move that officially transitions the company into a pure-play broadband provider. The divestiture provides a fresh capital injection aimed at accelerating the firm’s virtualized network infrastructure and software-defined technology growth.

To detail this new trajectory, Harmonic has scheduled an Investor Day for September 15, 2026, in New York City. The company currently leads the market in virtual CMTS and DAA equipment, with its cOS platform supporting nearly 46 million customer premises equipment devices across North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia. By shedding the video business, Harmonic aims to streamline operations and focus on the high-growth demands of next-generation multi-gigabit connectivity.
